Shark Tank
UAE-Based Greentech startup ” Bloomspoon ” Secures $218K Investment on Shark Tank Dubai
The sustainable cutlery startup trades 49% equity for funding and strategic retail backing.
Bloomspoon, a Dubai-born greentech startup creating plantable, reusable cutlery, has secured a $218,000 (AED 800,000) investment in exchange for 49% equity during Season 3 of Shark Tank Dubai. The offer came from Toufic Kreidieh, Executive Chairman and Co-Founder of the Brands for Less (BFL) Group, one of the region’s leading retail conglomerates.
Founded in 2023 by Mostafa Khattab, Bloomspoon has pioneered a product that turns everyday single-use waste into environmental action: eco-friendly utensils made from wheat straw, each embedded with a seed capsule that allows users to plant them after use.
From Viral Concept to Regional Contender
Kreidieh’s involvement brings far more than cash. As Khattab emphasized, the deal is about strategic alignment, retail experience, and access to regional distribution networks that could fast-track Bloomspoon’s growth.
“You can’t imagine how Gen Zs are looking for these ideas,” said Kreidieh during the episode, highlighting the rising demand for sustainable lifestyle brands.
Bloomspoon’s appearance on the show marks a turning point in its growth trajectory. The startup has already attracted regional media attention from platforms like Reuters, The Weather Channel, Dubai One TV, and Forbes Middle East, and operates a zero-carbon website alongside a pledge to plant a tree with every order.
Scaling Sustainable Habits
The new funding will allow Bloomspoon to expand its product line, strengthen retail presence, and enter new regional markets. The company also plans to pursue B Corp certification, further aligning its brand with purpose-driven, sustainable business standards.
“We’re not just building products; we’re building habits and mindsets,” said Khattab. With the credibility boost from Shark Tank and Kreidieh’s deep operational expertise, Bloomspoon is poised to become the UAE’s leading name in eco-conscious consumer goods.
