India-Based FashionTech Startup Slayd Raises $157K Pre-Seed to Expand Fashion Discovery Platform
The Gurugram-based platform will use the AJVC-led investment to expand its team and scale its private-label business, Slayd Originals.
Indian fashion discovery startup Slayd has raised approximately $156,000 in a pre-seed funding round led by AJVC, the early-stage venture capital firm founded by Aviral Bhatnagar.
The investment values the Gurugram-based company at approximately $1.74 million on a post-money basis. Slayd will use the capital to expand its team and grow Slayd Originals, its data-informed private-label fashion business.
Building a Fashion Discovery Platform
Founded in 2025 by IIT Roorkee alumni Sparsh Jain, Harsh Porwal and Kumar Prasang, Slayd aggregates products from more than 300 marketplaces and direct-to-consumer brands.
The platform aims to simplify fashion discovery by bringing products from a fragmented collection of online retailers into one interface.
Slayd adds approximately 100,000 new products every month and analyses them using a proprietary model that tracks more than eight signals to identify emerging fashion trends.
Rather than operating solely as another online marketplace, Slayd organises products into themed collections and personalised feeds. This allows users to explore items from different retailers without browsing multiple websites or applications separately.
Early User Growth and Engagement
Slayd claims to have surpassed 200,000 users and recorded a first-month retention rate of more than 40%.
Its most engaged customers use the platform more than ten times per month. The company has also identified more than 2,000 products as emerging bestsellers through the trend and engagement data collected across its platform.
According to co-founder Sparsh Jain, more than 100,000 new apparel designs enter the Indian market each month through hundreds of fragmented e-commerce platforms.
Consumers must currently visit several online destinations to understand what is trending and compare available products. Slayd wants to become the discovery layer connecting this dispersed fashion inventory with shopper demand.
Scaling Slayd Originals
In addition to aggregating products from other brands, Slayd has entered the private-label market through Slayd Originals.
The label launched in beta earlier in 2026 and is currently generating approximately 1,000 orders per month. Slayd uses product discovery and shopper behaviour data to determine which styles could perform well before developing them under its own brand.
Co-founder Harsh Porwal said understanding customer preferences before production allows Slayd to make more informed decisions about design and inventory.
The private-label model also gives the company greater control over pricing, product quality, supply-chain operations and consistency than it has when directing users to third-party sellers.
Funding to Support Team and Product Expansion
Slayd will direct the pre-seed capital toward hiring and expanding Slayd Originals after testing the label through its initial beta phase.
The startup’s model combines two connected businesses: a discovery platform that collects data on consumer preferences and a private label that can use those insights to develop products.
This approach could allow Slayd to identify trends through activity across its discovery platform and then translate selected demand signals into products sold under its own brand.
The AJVC-led investment gives Slayd early institutional backing as it works to grow its user base, improve its trend-identification technology and expand its private-label operations.
Its next stage will test whether the startup can maintain user engagement and accurately convert fashion discovery data into commercially successful products in India’s competitive online retail market.
